On December 23, 2021, I visited Dinos Alive in Montebello, CA. It was amazing. I’m not usually a huge fan of dinosaurs, but I really enjoyed this trip.
The First Room
The first room at Dinos Alive was set up like a museum, but instead of seeing still attractions, there were moving animatronic dinosaurs. There was even one walking around that I got to interact with!
The Second Room
The second room was my least favorite just due to the amount of chaos in there. I get overstimulated easily. And, this was the most crowded room. There were projections on the walls of dinosaur era sea creatures, and kids were bouncing balls at the walls.
To be honest, I thought this was the end. It wasn’t.
The Third Room
I had to stop for directions at the main desk. They told me that there was an opening in the curtain on the right hand side. When you go through it, you find a similar section to the first section.
There weren’t any dinosaurs walking around in here, but I still enjoyed it.
The Final Room
After this, there was one final room. In this room, there was a long white table for kids to color. They had free coloring sheets available. They also had dinosaur eggs with one of them hatching.
After the dinosaur eggs, were dinosaur rides for kids. There were two different rides, one smaller one that reminded me of a bouncy horse and a larger one that kids would have to climb up a ladder to ride. Each ride was $4.
The Virtual Reality Experience
Finally, there was the VR section. Just a note–the VR wasn’t really designed for kids. Now, if your kid is a pitcher in softball, they might enjoy it. But, the game was challenging. You’re playing fetch with a dinosaur, progressively throwing a bone further and further across the room. It took several tries to land the bone where it needed to go, and I saw a lot of the kids not making it to the end because it was just too hard for them.
The Gift Shop
After I did the VR experience, I went to the gift shop where I got a Dinos Alive mask and a stuffed triceratops. Just a note–the prices are not on the items. So, if you’re on a budget, you might want to get a price check before buying. My two items were $40. If I recall, the stuffed animal was reasonably priced, but the mask was very expensive.
Tips
- Unless you’re doing VR, don’t bother with VIP Admission. It’s not really worth it. VIP admission includes VR as well as front of the line entrance. But, there wasn’t a line, which defeats the purpose of the VIP–unless you want to do the VR.
- Make sure to have your ID and proof of vaccination ready for entry.
- If you’re bringing younger kids, pass on the VR and do the dino rides instead.

This sounds like so much fun! I know my nephew would LOVE it! I think he’d even love the VR part as he is addicted to VR games already. 🙂

This seems like a fun adventure for kids. I think my nieces would like it when they are a little bit older.
Unfortunately, I think it’s a limited time sort of thing. Fever’s events are usually around for a few months before they disappear. That’s not to say that it couldn’t come back at a later date. Fever hasn’t been on my radar for that long, so I don’t know.
Playing fetch with a dinosaur sounds fun!

I took my son a few years ago to a similar show in Boise. He was about 10 at the time and a huge fan.
