Valentine’s Day Solo Trip to Santa Barbara

Stay at Motel 6 Santa Barbara-Carpinteria South

Begin your Valentine’s Day Solo trip in Santa Barbara by staying at Motel 6 Santa Barbara-Carpinteria South. Why? Because as a single, there is no reason to stay at a hotel right in Santa Barbara. Santa Barbara itself is a romantic area. And, if you’re single on Valentine’s Day, you don’t want to be anywhere near the romance. Motel 6 is affordable and pet friendly. And, by staying outside of the city proper, you get a more budget hotel option. Of course if you want the luxury and benefits of staying in the city and don’t mind paying for it, you can always stay at Hilton Santa Barbara as I recommended for couples. You do you and be proud of that.

Arrive on Sunday, February 13 to avoid the higher rates and get Fido settled in–or in my case, Fawkes the Green-cheeked conure. I recommend getting settled in and ordering take out. It’s not a long drive to Carpinteria, but dinner in with your pet and a movie is more my speed the first night of a trip.

On Valentine’s Day

Head out to Carpinteria Seal Sanctuary (you are in Carpinteria after all). Then head into Santa Barbara to the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History for an hour or two. If the Sea Center is open, then head there as well, before heading back to the hotel for another movie and glass of sparkling cider (or wine if you drink) with dinner.

On Tuesday

If you have time on Tuesday, end your Valentine’s Day solo trip by taking Fido (or Fawkes in my case) and hike to Inspiration Point for a photo op (camera to take the photos with) before heading home.
