Looking for something to do with your pet this weekend in West LA? Look no further. Here are 5 great places to take your pet in West LA.

1. Mildred E. Mathias Botanical Garden

The Mildred E. Mathias Botanical Garden. is located on UCLA’s campus at 707 Tiverton Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90095, and admission is free. There is paid parking nearby, although if you have a small pet that can go in a carrier, I recommend just taking the bus (Big Bus 1), which is also pet friendly as long as your pet is in a carrier. Bus fare is $1.25 each way.

2. Echo Park Lake or Lake Balboa

Echo Park Lake is located at 751 Echo Park Ave, Los Angeles. There are pet-friendly paths for leashed pets, as well as picnic tables and pedal boats. Now, this one is a little farther, but for those who want something similar that’s closer, I recommend Lake Balboa.

Lake Balboa is located at 6300 Balboa Blvd, near Van Nuys. Pedal boat and bike rentals are available, and kayak lessons are offered. Pets are allowed on a leash, but not to swim in the lake. Note that paddle boards are not allowed due to unsanitary conditions.

3. Westfield Century City

Westfield Century City is the mall closest to where I live. It is also an outdoor mall, although pets may not be allowed in every store. There are two pet relief areas on Constellation Blvd and on the second level near the pet store Healthy Spot. The mall is located at 10250 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90067 and is open 10 AM-9 PM Monday-Thursday, 10 AM-10 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 AM-8 PM on Sundays. Expect to pay for parking or to take the bus which stops within a block of the mall.

4. Griffith Park

Griffith Park is free, although parking can be a bit challenging. There is street parking available though. There are hiking trails as well as the Travel Town Museum which is also pet friendly! The zoo is in Griffith Park as well, but that is not pet friendly. Griffith Park is located at 4730 Crystal Springs Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90027. But, is a very large park, so, it is best to choose a specific destination within the park and search for parking nearest that location.

5. Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area

Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area is located at 4100 S La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles, CA, US, 90008. There are five miles of trails, picnic sites, playgrounds, a fishing lake, and a lotus pond. Dogs must be leashed.
