I’ve been to Catalina Island a handful of times, and it was always on solo trips with pets. So, here are some of my recommendations for things to do on a Catalina Island solo trip.
The Falconry Program
It’s no secret that I love birds, so when I had the opportunity to participate in the falconry program on Catalina Island, fourth of July weekend in 2019, I was extremely excited. I wasn’t let down.
We learned about animal husbandry and got to catch two different falcon species on a glove.
We also got to meet an owl, which I really enjoyed.
The Falconry Experience is $94 per adult and $84 for Children 7-11 (minimum age for the experience is 7), seniors, veterans, and military. It runs Saturday and Sunday morning.
Glass Bottom Boat Tour
While the glass bottom boat tour was not my favorite activity on the island, it was a fun and inexpensive activity to participate in.
The Glass Bottom Boat Tour is $24.95 adult and $22.95 for children aged 2-11, seniors (55+) and veterans and active military.
Kayak to Frog Rock
The kayaking tour was one of my favorite activities. While I have been kayaking in a variety of environments–flat water and ocean, I found this to be rather mild for ocean kayaking. There is also a break in the middle at Frog Rock.
The Frog Rock Tour is $65 per adult and $49 per child ages 2-11 (under 2 is free). The tour is 2.5 hours, including a half hour orientation.
